Honey Bee - Masculine Cards Two Ways with Kelly LatevolaPosted on May 31, 2019

We made it to another weekend whoo hoo!
It was gorgeous outside today. It’s the first time all week it hasn’t rained at least part of the day. Summer is coming ya’ll and I’m so excited.
I have two cards for you guys today. Both are super simple which is wonderful because masculine cards are hard.
Well they are for me anyway. How about you?
I find creating my own pattern is an easy go to for my masculine cards. A simple background leaves lots of room for you to get creative. I opted to use the finish card panel as one but you could easily cut this to get two or even three backgrounds out of it. Pair one half of your pattern with a solid color and you’ll keep that manly vibe you’re going for.
I accented my sentiment by trimming it into a banner and added simple stripes of color underneath. Stripes and geometric shapes are an easy way to keep your card feeling more masculine.
For this card I maintained the same pattern. In fact I used my first card as a template so I didn’t even need to think about where to stamp them!
I stamped them all in black and then went in with some fast distress oxide watercoloring. I went with distress oxides because again those softer more muted colors keeps my masculine vibe on track.
I didn’t detail color this. Just a few quick washes to add some color. I love the distressed feel it gives the cars!
I opted for black sentiments on both but you could certainly swap out any of the other colors you used in the card. Especially with the colored stamping one. A dark red or a navy blue would look great!
I love how separating the different parts of the sentiment help it look fuller. It balances out all this awesome car images really nicely.
You can check out both cards and hear a bit about my Dad in the VIDEO below.
Thank you so much for stopping by!
